Burien Alps Ride May 2009

| Jet City Tri had a great 85 mile ride across the coveted Burien Alps. We departed from West Seattle just after 8am on Sunday and made our way to Tacoma via seven big, scenic climbs. We rode up Marine View Drive, Goat Head Hill, to Three Tree Point, Redondo Beach, Browns Point and over the Foss Waterway into Tacoma. | |

The weather was perfect for the ride. It was slightly overcast and cool when we started, keeping us from overheating as we worked hard up the big hills. By the time we finished with the major climbs, the clouds had burned off and it was pure blue sky and sunshine. From Point Defiance we took the ferry to Tahlequah on Vashon Island. We took the straight route across the island and there was some definite speed play at the front of the pack. |

There was time for refreshments while waiting for the ferry back to West Seattle, so we stopped at the Mexican restaurant, kicked off our cycling shoes, imbibed some cold drinks and soaked up the sun. |
